Not only did the U.S. team win the gold medal in the 2024 Olympic Gymnastics Finals; Simone Biles She made history by becoming the most decorated Olympian in American gymnastics history.
The 27-year-old athlete has been participating in the Olympics since her debut at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where she shot to fame after winning a gold medal at just 19 years old. It’s no wonder Simone is called the “greatest gymnast of all time.” Throughout her career, she has won five gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals, totaling eight Olympic medals.
Despite suffering a leg injury at the 2024 Olympics, Simone used it to lead her team to victory, the fourth gold medal in history for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team. The win was part of her comeback story after withdrawing from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics due to a sprain.
The All-Star champion overcame her challenges and is now the greatest gymnast of all time. The three-time Olympian even has a signature routine to her name: “The Biles” (floor, vault, balance beam) and “The Biles II” (floor and vault).
according to ABC NewsFormer Olympian Dominique Dawes commented on the difficulty of Simone’s moves: “They are so difficult and risky that many people don’t even attempt them, but she does them with total ease and effort. It’s amazing to watch her perform them, and she does it with a smile on her face.”
Dawes added, “It’s really Simone versus herself, and that’s what makes her one of the best of all time. Back then, there was a limit to how many points you could get. But now, with this new scoring system, there’s no limit for someone as talented as Simone, so when she does higher and more difficult moves on different apparatus, she really gets credit for it.”
With all the physical challenges Simone has faced, from injuries to “Twistys,” nothing has hindered her career success. Olympic“Instead of focusing on stats, I focus on my routine, going out there competing and seeing how comfortable and confident I feel.”
