While taking part in the awards ceremony, Simone and Jordan bowed to Rebecca in support, to which she responded by shaking their hands, and the three Olympians finished their final gymnastics event together.

“First of all, the podium was all black people. Second of all, why not give her flowers?” Jordan said. NBC“Not only did she give flowers to Simone, she gave flowers to a lot of people in the U.S., so giving that back is what makes this so beautiful. It felt needed.”
Simone and Rebecca won multiple medals at this year’s Olympics with almost equal scores. During the competition, Simone praised her rival and fellow gymnast Rebecca, but the GOAT joked, “I don’t want to compete against Rebecca anymore.”

“It’s exhausting. She’s very close to me. I’ve never had an athlete that close to me,” Simone said at a press conference in Paris. “It definitely kept me alert and brought out the best athlete in me. So I’m excited and proud to compete against her, but no, I’ve never been so stressed before. Thank you, Rebecca.”
Simone added that she has “huge respect” for the Brazilian gymnast, calling her a “really great competitor.”
