From kissing an alien to a cloned Eminem to jaw-dropping costumes, there were plenty of memorable moments at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. This year’s show marked its 40th anniversary since its inception in 1984. Megan Thee Stallionwas filled with dancing, singing and of course lots of prizes.

Karol G The 33-year-old Colombian singer performed her latest single, “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” and got the entire audience in a Latin dance move. Dancing to the beat of meringue, the 33-year-old Colombian singer walked out to the audience, which was made up of her industry colleagues, as she dominated the VMAs stage. Taylor Swift, Post Maloneand Camila Cabello I sat down and invited her to dance with me.
Katy Perry She was one of the night’s standout stars and joined previous winners in receiving the MTV Video Vanguard Award. Shakirawill be honored in 2023. To celebrate her achievements throughout her music career, the 39-year-old singer performed a medley of her hits, including “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream” and “Lifetimes.”
She expressed her gratitude to her husband in a heartfelt speech. Orlando BloomHer daughter presented the award Daisy Doveand her fanbase. She addressed her fans, saying, “My Katy Kats! You’ve supported me my whole life and I wouldn’t be here without you in the LGBTQ community. You’ve taught me how to be kind and be a bitch at the same time.”
Megan Thee Stallion Boldly recreated Britney Spears She wore her iconic outfit from her “Slave 4 You” music video with a real snake wrapped around her arm. As the crowd went wild, she screamed in terror, “OK! OK! Stop the music! Stop the music! I’m just playing. Come get me this snake. I don’t know this snake and this snake doesn’t know me.”
Eminem The band kicked off their 40th annual event in Elmont, New York with performances of songs from their latest album, “Houdini,” and “Somebody Save Me.” The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Glace)His show featured several men in early 2000s Slim Shady-style blonde wigs, including a younger version of the man himself.
Taylor Swift His music video “Fortnight” won MTV’s Video of the Year award three years in a row. Post MaloneShe thanked her team and the 29-year-old musician for helping her create the project, and gave a special shout-out to her boyfriend. Travis KelceDuring her speech, she said, “What I’ll always remember is that after we finished a take and said ‘cut,’ I would always hear someone cheering ‘Woo!’ from the other side of the studio where we were filming.
