Sean Diddy Combs‘ He allegedly sent text messages to multiple women, including his ex-wife. Cassie Venturawere read out during a court hearing on Wednesday, September 18. Prosecutors read out the messages while arguing that Combs, 54, has a “long-running pattern of abuse.”
Multiple OutletAssistant U.S. Attorney Emily A. Johnson read aloud text messages that Combs allegedly sent to Ventura, 38, moments after he dragged and punched him in a hotel room in 2016. The incident was captured on security camera footage and uncovered earlier this year.
“Call me. The police are here. I have six kids,” Combs allegedly texted Cathy, according to Johnson. “Hey, call me. I’m under siege. Are you going to leave me all alone?”
Johnson reportedly clarified in court that Diddy’s reference to police was not accurate at the time he allegedly wrote the message.
In response to Diddy’s message, Ventura texted him, “Your eyes are black and swollen and your lips are swollen. You are sick that you can get away with what you did,” Johnson read.

Earlier this year, after surveillance footage surfaced of Combs abusing Ventura, he admitted in an Instagram video that he felt “disgusted” with himself.
“It’s so hard to look back on the darkest times of my life,” Diddy said in a video posted in May. “Sometimes you have to. I was a mess. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior in that video is inexcusable. … I felt disgusted then and I still feel disgusted. I sought professional help, went to therapy and rehab. I have had to pray for God’s mercy and grace. I am truly sorry, but I am committed to being a better person. Every single day.”
Combs and Ventura dated from 2007 to 2018. Ventura filed a lawsuit against the rapper in late 2023, alleging that she was sexually and physically abused for years while dating Combs. Though the two quickly settled, multiple people came forward with sexual assault allegations against Diddy, and federal agents searched his Miami and Los Angeles homes amid a sex trafficking investigation.
Diddy has been charged with three felony counts of sex trafficking, extortion and transportation for the purpose of prostitution and is currently being held at MDC in Brooklyn.
