The 58-year-old Canadian actor tackled the topic during a recent appearance jimmy kimmel liveReeves who was there to promote his new comic book BRZRKRdiscussed his early acting career and his decision to move from Toronto to Tinseltown.
“I came to Hollywood when I was 20. I drove my car…” he said at the 9:11 mark. “I have lived here since 1985.”
“And technically, you’re not a U.S. citizen,” the host noted, prompting Reeves to confirm that he only had Canadian citizenship. You’ve always been Canadian, but are you interested in becoming a U.S. citizen?”

Kimmel pulled a stack of papers from under his desk and claimed his team had gathered all the papers to apply for citizenship. The host then turned to Mexican-born sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez, who went through the same process before obtaining citizenship in 2005.
“It’s really easy,” said Rodriguez. “You should do it.”
Kimmel then presented Reeves with a second option. It will get you right in.
“But you’re married,” Reeves replied. “You’re going to be a criminal, you’re going to run, we’re going to have to run, Jimmy.”
“I know, but I told her we might have to amend our constitution,” Kimmel explained.
but, John Wick The star clearly wasn’t interested in tying the knot, and Kimmel offered to host a special ceremony if he became a U.S. citizen.
