An employee of the United States Postal Service in Arizona was recently caught on camera throwing a package at the back of a truck.
According to Fox 10 Phoenix, employees were seen tossing boxes of vinyl records from The ‘In’ Groove music store in the state capital.
“We were throwing three carts in total until we were completely out of space,” said owner Michael Esposito.
The store shipped up to 300 parcels a day and watched the incident live on surveillance cameras.
“So I threw it hard into the truck from about 10 to 12 feet away, and when the truck was full it fell to the ground and threw it back up the mountain,” he said.
Esposito said he initially thought he would stand up to the workers, but then changed his mind.
He asked if the worker wanted the parcel closer to the truck, The postman reportedly declined.
“It was about $40,000 worth of records,” said the owner.
He said he understands the job is difficult, and he applauds the Post Office for it, but he also said he doesn’t feel good paying hundreds of dollars for records that customers are excited about. .
He said he wants customers to know how much effort his shop puts into packaging, and that he keeps a close eye on the packages as they enter the trucks.
“I was surprised to see this kind of footage because this is not how we train our employees. It does not reflect the efforts of a dedicated and dedicated carrier,” USPS strategic communications manager David Rupert told Fox News Digital in an email. “We are in the process of addressing personnel issues surrounding this. Both employees and USPS senior management have reached out to apologize to the owners.”
Fox 10 reported that a spokesperson could not say whether employees had been disciplined, citing federal privacy laws.
