Spending a lot of time in water creates buoyancy.of “Avatar, Water Path”, the people of the woods — the human-turned-Na’vi chief Turk Macht, formerly known as Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), his feisty companion Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and their companions — Toes soak, wet the whistle, and after a while start working with the Reef People. Sally and his companions have come to this scenic, otherworldly archipelago in search of refuge. Just when they think they’re safe, the evil Sky People arrive, led by the brawny and badass Col Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang).
For those wanting a little refreshment, James Cameron’s 2009 Avatar introduced the habitable world of Pandora, a moon galaxies away from Earth. The film is set in his mid-22nd century, where humans are of course more greedy than ever. Part of the “Avatar” program, former Marine Sully leads an expedition to this alien world where a ferocious search is underway for a precious mineral ironically called his Unobtanium. Soon, Jake encounters the Na’vi natives, loses her heart to the beautiful warrior princess Neytiri, finds out the error of his ways, and decides to return to Pandora. In short order as well, “Avatar” became a monster worldwide blockbuster. I’ve never seen a world as immersive and amazing as Pandora, and it had amazing special effects.

But with Cameron promising a slew of sequels, nothing could really make Sally happy. Hmm. Or what else is a man for? He declares that his father will protect his family. It gives him meaning. Alright then.

It’s been 13 years, so we may have forgotten some of the details of the original, but we can’t forget the tall blue creature, the yellow eyes, and the wagging tail. Feels like vi, but a connector to the deeper layers of the universe. Aside from the overarching themes of conservation and colonization, Avatar also raises alarm bells about how each of us is connected to each other, whether we live on land or in the sea. I was.
Oh sea, sea ‘Avatar 2’ is amazing as it scoops, dives, rolls happily along the water’s surface, and catches up with the incredible creatures that live in the depths of the ocean: the Na’vi family unites the waterways. Learn to be…with it. One of the Metkayna people (Kate Winslet plays a small role as the wife of a Metkayna chief who takes time to accept outsiders) tells the Na’vi family that they are beginning to find sea legs. When I say: Water has no beginning or end, it connects everything. Air was a major element in the first “Avatar”. The never-ending stream of water, and the spirit of all creatures, large and small, are great lessons for the sequel.
The importance of the family unit has also been emphasized time and time again, with Cameron clearly making the first family-friendly movie for families around the world, so a bit of teenage angst is thrown in and safely desexualized. CBFC further sanitized it by blowing out harmless words like “ass” and “shit”. Beware of naughty guys that fell out. Sullys stay together consist of Jake, Neytiri, daughter Kiris (Sogany Weaver, part of the original story), Tuk, and sons Neteyam, Roak, and Spider (the latter being an adopted human and he is very much in his environment). so well adapted that even his “own” race, the aliens, finds everything else.
One of the most gorgeous sights in the original was Jake and Neytiri flying, soaring, skimming airwaves and looping loops in reptilian bird-like vehicles. Marshal his army and blow things up. In Avatar 2, Cameron and his team find poetry in the way they capture water, the sun rippling waves, and young people frolicking on sophisticated personal watercraft.
Between all that briskly, there’s a touching thread that belongs to the relationship between a young Na’vi boy and a gentle giant of the deep sea called Turkun. As the two support each other against formidable foes, a boy comes upon a creature cast out of his clan and finds redemption. In Avatar 2, Cameron adds a strong tribalism that combines environmentalism and human greed to raise questions about identity and belonging. When we are all one, as the movie claims, who is the insider and who really is the outsider?
There’s a part in this movie that makes you go blind when guns bang (no Hollywood action actors dangling soldiers and the immortal phrase ‘Go, go, go’ yelled so often) When did you give us a Terminator movie in particular?). There are also some “Titanic” moments, with giant spaceships turning into turtles in the ocean and characters hanging out looking for groceries. In between all this noise there are nice little touches that come and go imperceptibly fast. Sequel scientists are searching for the precious nectar that will make them eternal. It’s called “Amrita.” It’s not just the title that has roots in India. A sequel that expands on the biblical overtones of Paradise Lost, interestingly, also expands on the Hindu mythological connection.
But it’s easy to ignore the all-too-familiar parts of Avatar 2. It easily transports us from Earth to Pandora. That immersion takes the whole idea of ’immersion’ to a whole other dazzling level.
