Anyone who’s tried to get home for the holidays or been caught in a Southwestern meltdown can recognize that Coming Home to Mothers can be its own epic horror movie. Of course, those journeys rarely have the same bizarre animated vision of Ari Aster (midsommar, Hereditary), the new movie bo is afraid I am fully focused on it.
Released again by A24, bo is afraid It centers around Bo (Joaquin Phoenix), a paranoid man on a trip to see his mother. Along the way, he gets hit by a car, gets caught (probably), walks a few miles (probably), and flies through nightmarish animations of his sequences (almost certainly, this is Aster).
Plus, if the early trailers are any indication, it could be Bo running madly and jumping over people in the street or saying, “I’m intention cut off your own hand ” Neat!
Joining the Phoenix adventure are Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Haley Squires, Dennis Menochet, Kylie Rogers, Armen Nahapetian, Parker Posey and Patti LuPone. bo is afraid Theatrical release on April 21.
