Over the years, the world seems to have realized that plus-size people exist and that we live life to the fullest in layers. I sent a gift to Snow Country Outerwear, which sells to. Lately, we’ve been thrilled with plus-size ski jumpsuits that are both fashionable and functional.

We started digging a little deeper and noticed multiple communities that advocate around the plus size outdoor lifestyle. We thought we’d share with a few people the community that has championed this niche within the plus-size space.

2. Fat Girls Hiking

Fat Girls Hiking was created by Summer Michaud-Skog. “I’m a self-proclaimed fat queer woman who loves hiking.” The Summer Fat Girls Hike is about “Fat Activism, Body Liberation, and Outdoor Communities.”
Fat Girls Hiking has multiple FGH Chapter in 22 cities across the United States. If you’re worried about being a slow hiker or holding back your group, fear not. They intentionally set the pace for the slowest pedestrians so that everyone can participate.
Natsu is also the author of fat girl hiking: : A comprehensive guide to enjoying the outdoors for any size or ability, a book released last year to rave reviews! If you want to read about what and how to hike before jumping into it, this is the book for you .

If you love hiking trails, exploring the outdoors, and hiking with others who live a life similar to yours, Trail Dames is the group to consider. It was created by President Anna Hasmaker in 2003 when she attempted to hike the Appalachian Trail. “I took six months off work, hiked 700 miles, broke my leg, and met some of the nicest people I could have never dreamed of.”
Finding herself the only plus size person on the trail, Anna created this group knowing she couldn’t keep all the fun to herself. trail dames created.
