WASHINGTON – President Biden thanked first responders in an awkward call to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on Thursday.
Originally from Massachusetts Home of Private Equity Billionaires David Rubenstein, President and First Lady Jill Biden, answered a call that began with a long, uncomfortable silence. NBC’s Dylan DryerAt the parade scene, the pair’s voices were apparently not heard for about 30 seconds.
“I’m not the type to take phone calls on TV, but I think this one needs to be answered,” said Dreyer.
“Hello, Mr. President?” said the reporter.
But after a few seconds of silence and confusion, no one answered as Jill Biden was faintly audible in the background.
“I don’t think I can hear you…” Dreyer then said. “Can you hear me, Mr. President?”
Then Dreyer spoke up after Biden was heard saying something to the First Lady. Happy Thanksgiving, Mr. President. are you there? “
That apparently caught Biden’s attention, and he replied, “We’re here.”
“I want to thank the firefighters and police officers, the first responders,” Biden said, saying the connection would eventually be revealed. “They never rest.”
The First Lady jumped in and added, “And may God bless our military.”
“By the way, later in the day, we will be talking to some of our forces, both domestically and internationally. I hope everyone remembers,” the president said. “We remember them every day. God bless our army so much.
This is the second year the Bidens have participated in the annual parade, which features 27 giant balloons and 31 floats.
The pair are scheduled to call a service member in the United States on Thursday at 11:30 am ET. But first, they visited a Nantucket fire station with their 2-year-old grandson, Beau.
Mr. and Mrs. Biden dropped off some pumpkin pies for the firefighters, who in return gave Bo a miniature fire hat. This boy is the youngest of the Biden family and the son of Hunter Biden and his wife Melissa Cohen.
