Last of Us Episode 2 begins on September 24, 2003 in Jakarta, Indonesia. A police officer approaches a woman having lunch. Her name is Eve Latona. She is a professor of mycology at the University of Indonesia. They take her to her lab and ask them to examine her specimens.
“This is ophiocordyceps. Why did you use chlorazole to prepare the slides?” she asks. Officers say it’s a preparation used to take samples from humans. “Cordyceps can’t survive in humans,” she says. until now.
Professor Latona is donned in armor and taken to a room containing human corpses. She was told to look at the sole of the patient’s left foot. There are bite marks with scars around her. She uses a scalpel to cut into it. “Is this a human bite?” Professor Ratona asks. The cop nods, “Yes.”
She opens the patient’s mouth and sees a fungus living in it. She runs out quickly. Professor Ratona asks when this happened. It all started him 30 hours ago at a flour and grain factory in West Jakarta. “The perfect substrate,” he quipped Dr. Ratna.
Officers said the bitten woman suddenly went berserk and bit three of her co-workers. They locked her in the bathroom. The police came and shot her girlfriend. Professor Ratna asks what happened to the people she bit. It is revealed that they must be taken for observation and executed. No one knows who bit the woman. 14 workers are still missing.
Professor Ratna is being asked to stop this from spreading. Professor Ratna answers: So listen carefully. No medicine. No vaccine. ” He wants to know what to do next.
“Bombs. Start bombing. Bomb this city…and bomb everyone there,” urges Professor Ratona. The officer looks surprised, but Professor Latona is serious. She starts crying and asks to be taken to her home.
Ellie claims she’s the key to the vaccine
In the current timeline, Ellie awakens to Joel and Tess watching her intently. Joel has a gun pointed at Ellie. “Do I look infected?” she says. Ellie shows Joel and Tess her arm. she’s not getting worse. Tess wonders what Marlene was doing to the infected child. Ellie explains that she found her after Marlene was infected. Marlene locked her up and tested her daily. She never got sick.
Joel isn’t convinced Ellie won’t get sick. Tess knows that when they bring her back she will be killed because Ellie still tests positive, Tess wants to know why Ellie is so important to Marlene. “Joel and I are not nice people. We are doing this because, apparently, you are worth something. ” Tess says to Ellie.
Ellie reveals that Marlene told her not to tell anyone, but now she has to. “There’s a Firefly base camp somewhere in the west where there’s a doctor. They’re working on a cure,” Ellie reveals. Ellie is the key to finding a vaccine. Joel doesn’t believe her. He pleads with Tess to reconsider this assignment. Tess wants it to end. Whether it’s true or not, they’ll get paid for it.
Joel, Ellie and Tess depart. Ellie notices a huge crater in the middle of the city. Tess explains that most of the big cities have been bombed to slow the spread of the infection. Tess asks Ellie how she got bitten. Ellie sneaks into her mall shopping in the Boston QZ. she wanted to see what it was like. One of her infected came out of nowhere and bit her. Ellie claims she was alone. Since she is an orphan, no one comes looking for her.
The trio hear screams in the distance, but Joel insists they keep moving. They make it through without encountering an infected person. Ellie tries to make small talk with Joel while Tess goes to investigate. He continues to answer most of her questions. Ellie asks how long the infected will live. Joel reveals that some last about a month or two, while others roam for 20 years. He killed many of them over the years.
Ellie, Joel, and Tess fight off the infected
Tess returns with bad news. She shows Ellie and Joel a swarm of infected lying on the ground below. “They are connected,” Ellie realizes. says Tess. Mold also grows underground. With long, wire-like strands, some of her stretch for over a mile. Stepping on a patch of cordyceps in one location can awaken a dozen infected in another. Now they know where you are. now they come Aren’t you invincible even if you’re torn apart? ’ It is imperative that Ellie understands this.
Ellie, Joel, and Tess must next make their way through the Bostonian Museum to reach the State Capitol, where a group of fireflies are waiting for Ellie. Ellie came upon her newly dead body, still unrotated. Joel and Tess are clearly frightened. They must remain silent as they make their way through the museum. There is a pile of corpses covered with dead mushrooms. Ellie accidentally makes a noise and something stirs above her head.
Shortly after Ellie and Tess reach another room, part of the museum’s roof collapses. Unfortunately, more danger awaited them. Infected head towards them. Joel urges Ellie and Tess to keep quiet so the infected don’t notice. Another infected person enters the room. Joel’s plan goes awry and he ends up fighting one of his infected.
Tess and Ellie run. Joel reloads his gun and finds Ellie. he picks her up. They start walking away, but he’s stepping on the glass. This causes another fight with one of the infected, nearly defeating Ellie.Joel is able to kill the infected. Another attacks with a barrel, but Tess stops it with an ax so Joel can finish it off.
Ellie seems to have been bitten again. “I mean, if it happens to one of us,” she quipped. Ellie, Joel, and Tess rush to the top floor of the building. Ellie crosses the wooden planks to another building. Joel is still suspicious of Ellie. She can take a second bite. Tess urges him to accept this. This may be good news. Maybe if they could actually win.
Joel walks over to Ellie, who is taking in the view. “Is that all you wanted?” he asks. she answers. But she cannot deny her opinion. ”
Tess makes a heartbreaking sacrifice
they continue their journey. They end up at the State Capitol. Joel and Tess immediately become uneasy. There are no fireflies around.this is that too quiet. Ellie notices fresh blood stains. Tess grabs Ellie and takes her inside. There are corpses everywhere. Joel tells Ellie that one of the fireflies has been bitten. Healthy people started fighting sick people and everyone lost.
All fireflies are dead. Ellie doesn’t know where Marlene was going to take her. Joel wants to go home, but Tess stays home. “So our luck was bound to run out sooner or later,” admits Tess. That’s when Ellie realizes something surprising. “Oh my god, she’s infected,” Ellie says.
Joel demands Tess show her bite. She tries to go to him, but he winces. Tess pulls her shirt down, revealing a scar on his chest. She asks Ellie to show her bite. Ellie’s bite marks are not getting worse. “This is real. Joel, she’s real,” says Tess.
Tess asks Joel to take Ellie to Bill and Frank. Joel doesn’t think they’ll take her. “This is your chance. says Tess.
One of the infected comes in, but Joel shoots it in the head. Unfortunately, as Tess warned, this sets off a chain reaction with the fungus and other infected people. Tess takes a barrel of gasoline and spills it on the floor along with some grenades. She tells Joel to save anyone he can save. He grabs Ellie and runs. “No, we won’t leave her behind!” Ellie shouts.
Tess is left alone, waiting for a swarm of infected. they run inside. She’s trying to catch a lighter to make an explosion. One of the infected notices her. He approaches her and kisses her, allowing her fungus to get into her mouth, thankfully the lighter finally catches. As Joel and Ellie escape, Tess dies in the Capitol explosion. new episode of Last of Us It airs Sundays at 9:00 pm on HBO.
