J.K. Rowling has been ramping up her transphobia on Twitter in recent weeks, with a number of posts devoted to gender error, fear-mongering, and false concern trolling on behalf of “transitioners.”Things seemed to come to a head last week after The Comedian Graham Norton was specifically asked in an interview how Rowling fits into his idea of ”cancelling culture.” Norton didn’t even go so far as to criticize Rowling, but simply said that if people want to talk about transgender issues, they should talk to transgender people and real-life experts and listen to them. Still, Rowling lashed out on Twitter, appearing to accuse Norton (and musician Billy Bragg, who admired Norton) of endorsing “rape and death threats.”
This is strange, but nothing new for Rowling, who has shifted her entire online persona around TERFdom in recent years. Harry potter reconciled fans. Many fans have struggled for years with whether they can continue to cherish the franchise after its creators beat themselves up for being this badass. It’s a complex issue that requires dealing with not only the personal line of emotional comfort, but also the unfortunate fact that it’s basically impossible to continue to consume Rowling’s work, and to pay her off financially. There is
like us Princess Weeks wrote earlier this year:
But the most important question is ” Harry potter Will the world exist and prosper with J.K. Seeing how it’s added to the toxic environment, and how her Twitter platform keeps her finding validation, it’s very hard to enjoy. Harry potter If these issues bother you.
Her recent comments have affected every aspect of how the series is read today. Potterin reality she is teeth brand.Upcoming projects Harry potter Always keeping money in her pocket and trying to remove her from the book series itself would be a very problematic precedent to set.
Rowling is reminding us of this fact in today’s epidemic of transphobia. Reply to her Twitter user who asked her: “How do you sleep at night when you’ve completely lost your audience in the form of buying your book?” Rowling gave the real-life villain response. rice field. “I just read her recent royalty check and her pain was gone in no time,” she laughs viciously (I guess).
This is so despicable. People are reaching out to her and telling her that she is the cause and continues to cause pain to so many people who once looked up to her and valued her work. literally says she doesn’t care and replies that her money is more important to her.
For those who think it is still possible to separate art and artists, I think this is a good reminder. It’s up to individual fans to decide where the boundaries are and what they are comfortable supporting. But let’s not have any illusions about how that support puts money into these uncomfortable pockets.
