Broadway’s Best Artists came out last night to pay tribute to the most outstanding plays and musicals at the 76th annual Tony Awards ceremony at United Palace in New York City.
Hosted by Ariana DeBose for the second year in a row, this year’s ceremony was a little different, with none of the presenters reading the script.
That is correct! Due to the Writers Guild of America strike, the Tony Awards reached an amicable agreement with the union to produce the Tony Awards without a script. But that didn’t stop the show from continuing, as we know that improvisation is one of Broadway’s premier specialties.
The stars of the night pulled out the theater looking like they did so perfectly. Actress Lupita Nyong’o showed her avant-garde vibe on the tropical red carpet in a silver bib under a black suit by Pakistani artist Misha Japawala. New York artist Sabine’s design of henna paint on Nyong’o’s bald head looked like a beautiful tattoo from a distance.
Lea Michele and Lorna Courtney showed off their floral beauty, while Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss wore a perfectly draped black and white Sergio Hudson chiffon dress. I wore it and appeared at the Tony Awards like a beautiful woman.
