BET made headlines last night at the 2023 BET Awards Show at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with stunning red carpet looks and sensational celebrity performances.
In case you missed last night’s highlights, here’s a rundown of 411 and the hottest moments.
Television legend Tyler Perry recently acquired network BET to mark the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, a star-studded ceremony representing the artists who ultimately influenced the hip-hop tradition. I assure you there is.
Known as one of the greatest hosts with an unparalleled lyrical flow, BET paid tribute to “Turn It Up!” The 6’1 tall, 245-pound rapper broke down in tears as rapper Busta Rhimes received her Lifetime Achievement Award.
Busta wasn’t the only one to be overjoyed, as “Put It on the Floor” rapper Lat won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and her creative director Teyana Taylor won Best of the Year. Awarded Best Video Director. Talk about a dynamic duo!
Celebrities rocked the stage last night with performances from OG including Master P, Big Daddy Kane, E40 and Jay Rule. The latest generation of hip-hop has added a new element to the equation: “People’s Princess’ Ice Spice stage was outfitted with bodega stores and subway trains that reflected the Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop.” I added a nice flare.
Quavo and Offset eventually made amends, playing various jams including their hit “Bad and Boosie” for the first time since Takeoff’s demise. We all know there is no “me” on the team, so it was great to see them forget the past and band together for the greater good.
The couple who looked dazzling at the BET Awards at night with color coordination, Summer Walker and Lil Miech who appeared in black on black, Ray J and Princess shining in gold, and Kash Doll shining in platinum metallic. Tracy T. was included. .
