The album is full of upbeat pop songs like “Made You Look”. But throughout the album, Trainor also touches on difficult topics, such as her changing relationship with her body and self-esteem after becoming a mother.
“The first few songs were heartbreaking. They were sad at first,” she said. “And I felt, no, happier than ever. Why am I sad?

“And I’m singing to my husband because he always tells me I’m pretty and I feel like I’ve been ripped by stretch marks and a C-section. It took me a while to fall in love again and be able to see my body after the scars.
The album also touches on “mom guilt” and the difference between social media and reality.
“My first song was about being a mother, not to look easy,” Trainor said. “I’m tired. And I’m a working mom, and I have mom guilt. And I tried to make them relatable and put them in every song.”
Trainor has historically been a “melody queen”, she says, beginning each song with a melody.
“I would often sit at the piano, do my homework, and come up with ideas before songwriting sessions,” she said. “Luckily it worked out every time, but I was going to do the chorus and then have the songwriters come and produce.”
Self-love is a recurring theme throughout the album’s 16 tracks.
“That’s the hardest thing. That’s why I write all these self-love songs because I believe in myself,” she said.
