When it comes to viral footwear, Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF tops the list. Following the cartoonish Big Red Boots, the brand is back with another unique design.
Called the BWD sneaker, MSCHF’s latest design is a sneaker/sandal hybrid with gray stripes, chunky soles, high-visibility pull tabs, and angular speckled midsoles. If the upper is open at both ends and you don’t have two tongues that you can wear on the front and back, the retro skate can be used as a shoe.
When worn with the foot slipped into the heel, the BWD becomes a giant open-toed sneaker-inspired sandal. Understated and unique, the piece employs a chunky mule silhouette with a slightly exposed toe.
MSCHF’s BWD sneakers will be released on April 11th. We can’t wait to see how fans style these unconventional kicks. These shoes certainly make the cartoonish red boots more wearable.
