The first full trailer for Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster thriller Oppenheimer about the physicist often referred to as the “father of the atomic bomb” has been released.
Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, and the story focuses on America’s top-secret nuclear weapons project during World War II. Alongside Murphy, Oppenheimer’s cast includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami His Malek, David Dastmalchan, Josh His Peck, and more.
The trailer quickly sets the film’s intense tone and previews some of the places Oppenheimer’s story will take audiences when the film hits theaters on July 21, 2023.
“We imagine the future, and that imagination terrifies us,” says Oppenheimer of Murphy. “They don’t fear it until they understand it, they don’t understand it until they use it. Theory will only take you so far. Can we trust such a weapon?” I don’t know, but I have no choice. Can anyone tell me the truth about what’s going on here?”
