Dear friend,
It is with great sadness and pride that I announce my decision to cancel the Holy Tour.
It saddens me to let down the people who have shown love and supported what I do, who have bought tickets and planned trips to come see me. The thought of disappointing you all makes me feel a deep disappointment too. I was thrilled to finally meet you in person to celebrate and bring the music on this new record to life. I know I couldn’t keep making music for years, and I’m so grateful for that.
But over the past few years, we’ve all experienced tremendous physical, mental, spiritual and financial challenges. , to make up for lost time, reconnect, catch up on unpaid bills, and escape the madness, many of the sacrifices of the experience are left unattended. For many of us, the landscape we are about to re-enter is not the same.
As a touring musician, I don’t think anyone expected the new reality that awaited us. After spending the past few years idle (not being able to do shows), many of us, like everyone else, have had no or little income during that time and are unable to do shows. All able musicians quickly returned when was deemed safe. Hit by skyrocketing gas, tour bus, hotel, and flight costs, we’ve been inundated with a market of artists looking to book shows in the same city and tested positive, prompting us to seek out proven venues. Many are no longer available. The result is a constant stoppage of schedules with devastating financial consequences. All of this is on top of already tapped mental, mental, physical and emotional resources that have just survived the past few years. Some people are noticing
In my case, I’ve been trial and error, looking at what I need from every angle, and I simply don’t have it. It’s important for people to know the truth of what it’s like here for artists, and I don’t think there’s enough people talking about it publicly, so I’ll actually go into more detail later. Just as I started writing you a letter, just as I started writing this letter, in the last few days, literally the last few days, musicians have canceled tours and prioritized themselves over the constant demands of the industry. I’ve seen articles starting to come out that say they are. But for now, I want to tell you that anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, dizziness, chronic pain, and missing out on precious time with my children have paid a heavy price for me. Where there are people, where there is a music business, I feel like I’ve been holding on, trying to get to the far finish line all along, but my car has been falling apart – bumpers falling off, one wheel One by one, the steering wheel fell off, and finally the whole bottom fell off. And here I am thinking. And my little mind, actually my whole body, and my soul, which has worked beyond its limits, is also screaming at me. Pull. The Fuck. that’s all! ”
I come to you with the sincerity inherent in my music. With the release of Spirituals, an album about respecting yourself and refusing to cross your boundaries, how could you not use this opportunity to do it for yourself? Please understand that I am proud to cancel . Indifferent.
i love you all. I look forward to seeing you again.
