Sean Penn62, presents one of the Academy Awards to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky November 8th. The actor won his two Oscars, including roles in the 2003 film mysterious river and another for his role in 2008 milk, sat down for a meeting with the leader during Ukraine’s second visit to Kyiv this year after Ukraine entered war with Russia in February. “This is for you,” Sean, dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans, said to Zelenski after he sat down with him shaking hands and took the Oscar out of his black bag. But knowing that this is here with you will make me feel better and stronger for the fight. “I’m very honored,” he said, but Sean insisted on keeping it. I’ll feel much better,” he said.
Like Sean, Zelensky, who was an actor before becoming president of Ukraine, was later spotted proudly holding an Oscar on the president’s mantelpiece. He also presented Sean with the Order of Merit of Ukraine, thanking him for “his sincere support and great contribution to the spread of Ukraine in the world.”
