After a hiatus last year, the Golden Globes returned to Beverly Hills last Tuesday night. Despite Albert Hammond’s iconic 1973 lyrics, it actually rained in Southern California. The hem of the gown was soaking wet, but the stars flocked to the red carpet, striking their best poses despite the torrential rain.
As the first red carpet to begin in 2023, the Golden Globes didn’t provide the nonstop glamour we hoped it would, but there were still some standouts that looked as golden as the awards themselves. This year, men have embraced fun colors over classic silhouettes, while women have made it big for the big night, with big shoulders, big embellishments, and big skirts.
See below for some of our favorite nights.
Balmain’s MJ Rodriguez
MJ Rodriguez looked breathtaking in a cobalt bow-sleeve Balmain. The soft glam that completed her look accentuated her face card that never faded.
Schiaparelli’s Rihanna
Rihanna didn’t walk the carpet, but you can’t miss when the fashion icon steps into the room. Her hair, four long, twisted braids, were gelled in Betty Boop-esque face-framing curls to tie the whole look together.
Monique Lhuillier’s Regina Hall
In the usual sea of plush fabrics (sequins, tulle, satin, velvet), Regina Hall stood out in an edgy leather-on-leather look. Her asymmetrical Monique Ruyler gown hugged her body-odi-odi, and her matching fingerless gloves added a modern touch on one of Hollywood’s most traditional red carpets. A bold choice, and it paid off.
Amiri Tyler James Williams
It’s a big night at Abbott Elementary School, and there’s no better way to put it in style than with a stocky suit. Though prone and usually swallows men his size, he executed these proportions well. Well, he was the most dressed up on the carpet.
Gucci’s Jenna Ortega
For her first Golden Globe, Jenna Ortega was sure to show up and show off. It complemented the style perfectly. The hairstyle is a choice we don’t know yet, but we can agree that the color suits her.
Michelle Yeoh in Armani Privé
Award shows and Sparkle are a perfect match. Regardless of the ceremony, you can be sure someone will arrive in a sequin- and crystal-embellished look, and this year Michelle Yeoh brought her finest sparkle to the carpet. She wore her navy strapless peplum her column her gown glowed on its own, but her moussaieff her jewelery added to the star’s power. A touch of grace was added by sweeping her brunette tresses to one side.
Zegna’s Andrew Garfield
Garfield’s burnt orange suit stood out for the men on the carpet. He paired the suit with black accents to take center stage and provide a very sharp finish. .
Colman Domingo of Dolce & Gabbana
Who says brilliance is only for women? Colman Domingo proved that men in onyx and graphite-encrusted Dolce and Gabbana tuxedos are just as good as women. starry suit. He looked sharp out of this world.
Jessica Chastain at Oscar de la Renta
Jessica Chastain wore the night’s most intricate sparkle design. Her neutral sheer column gown featured glitter and crystal cobwebs. A good argument can be made about the need for earrings, but there’s no denying that this is an attention-grabbing dress. It was a beauty choice.
Ayo Edeviri by Rosie Assoulin
Ayo Edeviri looked like a modern-day Cinderella in a powder blue sculpted ring top and Saturn ball skirt. It’s the particular style we’ve come to expect from Edebiri because it carries so well. to be decided As for the gloves, we decided they fit her quirky style. The hem of the skirt that got soaked seems to be part of the design. It’s not a look for everyone, but if anyone can do it right, it’s Ayo.
