‘The Crown’ season 6 in production suspended Season 5 is slated to begin on November 9th, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
When the popular series returns to Netflix, Imelda Staunton will take over the role of Queen from Olivia Colman, who played her in seasons 3 and 4 of the royal drama.
Claire Foy played Queen Elizabeth II in the show’s first two seasons.
Netflix describes Season 5 as revolving around the Queen “celebrating her 40th anniversary on the throne.”
“Departing in Britannia for her annual tour of the West Isles of Scotland, she looks back on a reign that includes nine Prime Ministers, the advent of popular television and the Twilight of the British Empire,” the description reads. “But as the new decade begins, the old certainties are no longer guaranteed.”
The collapse of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage is also a big story.
Dominic West will play Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki will play Princess Diana, and Jonathan Pryce will play the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip.
