A student at the Greenville County Fine Arts Center became only the second student in the school’s 48-year history to achieve a perfect score on the AP 2-D Art and Design exam.
Miles Thompson says he started drawing when he was seven or eight years old.
But he says he didn’t start taking it seriously until eighth grade.
“My artwork is about my experiences and how I take them,” says Thompson.
Ryan Ross, one of Thompson’s instructors at the Fine Arts Center, says one of the first things that comes to mind when you think of Miles is his work ethic.
“He takes all the elements he knows and puts them into his artwork, which is what an artist should do,” says Roth.
According to Roth, Miles was judged on his writing and artwork, and several people judged his work on the AP 2-D Art and Design exam.
According to Roth, Miles earned a perfect 5 from everyone who saw his work, which is “rare and wonderful.”
“Quite a shock, I can’t lie,” said Thompson after hearing the news.
“This body of work has been going on for several years,” said Thompson. What you put in, you get back. The effort paid off. “
