Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion is out today and is a solid remaster/remake of the beloved PSP title. But at least one of his paintings in the new game contains a little extra. In our review posted today, noted that the new remake is a faithful adaptation of the original PSP game, complete with flaws that stem from its over-commitment to being the perfect prequel. However, the ending is “a disappointing ending”. Nonetheless, it’s a very nice looking remake. However, I noticed that the new visuals had a new error where at least three instances of his in-game paintings were still watermarked.
In Chapter 8 of the game, you enter the Shinra Mansion. This very nice looking luxury home has a lot of flashy paintings on the walls. A closer look reveals that these are real paintings. A closer look reveals clearly where Square Enix got the art from.
Yeah, that’s the old Getty Images watermark in the middle of it. I was able to track down the exact painting that Square Enix got using our own Getty account. . Painted Ludgate Circus in London in 1881.

Anyone who got this image from Getty may not have paid the license fee as the watermark is still there. The resulting painting appears in this area of the game at least three times, with a Getty watermark. husband!
This isn’t the first time a large Square Enix RPG has been shipped with an erroneous watermark. Kingdom Hearts III Watermarks are also included in one cutsceneBut it was a “blink-and-miss,” not an easy-to-find picture that came up again and again and was clearly visible to everyone. If you want to see this mistake for yourself, I’m sure Square Enix will be patching it soon, so make your way to the mansion sooner or later.
