Social media platform Parler accidentally leaked the personal email addresses of VIPs such as Ivanka Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle.
The Parler outreach team emailed over 200 verified users on Monday to announce the deal with the parent company. Kanye West takes over platform. The deal with the rapper recently banned from Instagram and Twitter anti-semitic postswhich is expected to be completed later this year.
But when sharing news with respected users, Parler failed to protect their users’ personal information. The platform has doxxed the user’s email by appending the user’s email to the email with the carbon copy feature instead of blind carbon copy.
“Our VIPs are an integral part of the Parler family and experience.” I read your email. “We thank all of you for your support and cooperation in the fight for free speech and look forward to your participation in this monumental new chapter.”
This mistake resulted in hundreds of people replying to the email thread, many using the situation to make jokes. Work Week Inc. CEO Adam Ryan said:
“Because I’m getting everyone’s attention…Covfefe…lol,” wrote user The Big Mig.
“Project Veritas has joined the chat,” another wrote, referring to a far-right activist group aimed at discrediting mainstream media groups.
Others have taken the opportunity to push racist websites and ideologies. According to one user.
VIPs like Ivanka Trump, Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik, Post contributor Andy Ngo, and Candace Owens have their emails made public soon. Mashable reported.
Former President Donald Trump’s election fraud attorney L. Lynn Wood was also included in the chain, despite being kicked off the platform last year. he told the Daily Dot.
“Since being kicked off the platform for no reason in 2021, I have had no interest or trust in Parlor,” Wood said.
User Tim Young, a political comedian, told the outlet that the blunder was “the last nail in the coffin” for him and proof that the site has various problems.
“I lost faith in parlors a long time ago. There didn’t seem to be any active users, and the platform wasn’t even worth trying out,” says Young. “The publication of the email is ridiculous and shows a lack of recognition from his failed social media company.”
Parler’s parent company, Parlement Technologies, quickly apologized for the gaffe and sent a follow-up message to VIP users.
“Earlier today we broke the news that Ye was about to buy a Parler. I was so excited that I accidentally typed your email address in the CC field instead of the BCC field,” says COO Josh Levine said. “To say we are very embarrassed is an understatement.”
