Actor and mixed martial artist Jason David Frank dies, his agent Confirmed by Geek IrelandThe “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” star was 49 years old.
Born in Covina, California, Frank rose to fame in the early 1990s as Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger and later the White Ranger. He has portrayed the character in both television and film adaptations of the popular franchise.
Tributes to Frank flooded in on social media, where many Power Rangers fans highlighted the actor’s influence.
“No way… this really hurts… Those who know me well know my love for my favorite superhero, the Power Rangers. will continue to be so,” he wrote. Twitter user Thatlifeyo.
“I can’t think of anyone who loved and appreciated his fans more than he did. Whenever I saw him, he was always kind and gracious. Terrible news,” added Twitter user @liladam87.
Professional wrestler Iron Seek also sent a compliment, writing, “RIP JDF YOU THE REAL LEGEND BUBBA I LOVE YOU FOREVER #RIPLEGEND.”
The cause of death has not been officially released, but multiple reports suggest that Frank committed suicide.
