NBC News report Roiland was arrested and charged with one felony count of domestic assault involving bodily injury and wrongful imprisonment for intimidation, violence, fraud, and/or fraud following an incident involving the victim of Jane Doe, who he was dating at the time. He was charged with one felony.

The incident reportedly took place in January 2020, and Roiland was indicted in May 2020. He was arrested and in August of that year he was released on a bond of $50,000 and formally indicted in October 2020. A protective order was filed that same month. Roiland prohibited contact with, or going within 100 feet of, the victim of Jane Doe. This protection order is valid until October 2023.
