It’s no secret that Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s seemingly fairy tale romance was a nightmare, but behind closed doors, one writer claims things were much darker.
Christopher Andersen has written a new book about eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II with title “The King: The Life of Charles III”. He spoke with numerous palace officials and others who knew the former Prince of Wales or had worked closely with him over the years. His goal was to further investigate the 74-year-old’s “lonely” childhood and military training, as well as the several scandals surrounding his relationship that rocked the Windsor family.
Andersen told Fox News Digital that the marriage between Charles and Diana had become so unstable that royal protectors were on guard against all the weapons scattered around the palace.
“He is very hot-tempered,” Andersen claimed of the king. “I mean, it’s an incredible temper. He throws tantrums all the time and throws bootjacks [at her]A heavy wooden device for donning hunting boots, made of iron and wood. He threw it at Diana’s head, but missed her.”
It was Charles’ former squire, Ken Stronach, who claimed to Andersen that he was in the room. Quoted in the book.
“But there are guns all over that palace,” Anderson insisted. [for] Security forces…they were worried there would be such violence.lots of screams and screams [and] I slammed the door shut.don’t forget diana three months pregnant [Prince] Williamshe threw herself down the stairs and landed at the feet of the Queen and Princess Margaret. [were] number of violent episodes. It could have been worse. When [security] Fear that someone will not only commit suicide, but that someone will harm them, [but] We may be talking about murder. That’s why they tried to keep weapons away from royalty. ”
Andersen wrote that during their marriage, Charles “sinked into a deep depression” and thought he was “on the verge of a nervous breakdown”. He is said to have told one of his best friends, Arnold Goodman, “I have no purpose in life.” Goodman was said to have felt that Charles was “showing the classic signs of depression”. Not only did Prince Charles believe he was trapped in a loveless marriage, but even if the divorce was granted by the Queen, it would be “a grave threat to his children, the royal family, and the monarchy itself.” I was afraid that it would affect me.”
According to Andersen, Goodman expressed concern to the royal protectorate.Ken Worf Diana’s former bodyguard, described the atmosphere as “extremely flammable”. One bodyguard told Andersen that the confrontation between Charles and Diana was “so graphic” that “violence seemed inevitable”.
“It was the overwhelming firepower contained in the walls of Highgrove that posed particular problems,” wrote Andersen. The detective, who was charged with protecting members of the royal family, was deeply concerned that “in the heat of rage” any of these could be endangered. He had committed suicide, murder, or both, and there was a legitimate concern that William and Harry would become collateral damage. For safety, all guns were locked and locked. It was done.

According to housekeeper Wendy Berry, she witnessed “slammed doors and violent fights” that were “characteristics of everyday life”. “From room to room” she claimed to have seen Charles chasing after her. Charles sarcastically replied, “I don’t know, dear, I think I might be gay.”
“He was having an affair with Camilla [Parker Bowles]’” Andersen explained. [Diana] Already. He has emotionally shut down towards Diana. I think I received ”
“Because of Charles and Camilla’s behavior, she developed neuroticism, an eating disorder, and more,” Andersen claimed. “
Problems between Diana and Charles began long before the so-called fairytale wedding. Charles, the heir to the British throne, was allegedly pressured to end his relationship with then-Lady Diana Spencer or propose. Before the wedding, Diana expressed her doubts about walking down her aisle. Especially after discovering a bracelet that Charles had made for his former flame, Camilla.

In 1992, Andrew Morton wrote Diana: Her True Story, a shocking all-around story about a broken marriage. He also detailed Charles’ relationship with Camilla, and Diana’s mental health struggles. It was not confirmed at the time that the princess secretly collaborated with the British author on the book.
The divorce was finalized in 1996. A year later, Diana died at the age of 36 from injuries sustained in a car accident in Paris.
Andersen said Charles was devastated by Diana’s deathHe is said to have held the phone “grey and shivering” when he received the dreaded call. He then said, “The cries of pain were very spontaneous and heartfelt.” One witness described it as “anguished howls” heard in the hallway. Palace staff rushed to Charles’ room and found him “falling in an armchair, crying uncontrollably”.
“Prince Charles is responsible not only for the collapse of the monarchy at some point after Princess Diana’s death, but also for saving it,” Andersen explained. I don’t think you understand how shocked I was, I interviewed a nurse at the hospital and I saw him when he walked into the room and saw her body for the first time.I was punched in the face. He backed away. They thought he was going to pass out. They were surprised to see how emotional Charles was after her death.
Andersen said that the grief-stricken Charles decided to allow the mother of his two sons to be honored.

“He’s already been heavily involved in the monarchy’s orbit,” Andersen said. “If [the monarchy] is successful because of him. If the monarchy hits rock bottom, it’s his fault. he will have to wait and see. ”
