Steranko says that back in the day, a cover slipped through a crack in his Marvel and needed to be completed quickly. Steranko accepted the assignment late one afternoon and agreed to an 8:00 am deadline the next morning. He knew it was a potentially dangerous job when he asked what he should show on the cover, but was told by his editor that he didn’t mind. I had to finish the cover, drive into town, and submit it to the Marvel offices in Manhattan. . Sitting in traffic and shaving, his car was rear-ended by another driver. As a result, Steranko received a rather severe cut and began to bleed profusely. Nonetheless, he double-parked outside Marvel’s office, went inside, and turned in his work on time — bleeding the whole time. And remember that I shed sweat and tears. However, although he painted the Hulk’s head in beads with sweat and swollen veins, his version was said to be “too fierce”. Said he was calling. A copy is up for auction at Heritage Auctionswas slabbed at 3.5 by CGC with a total bid of $75, putting it under the hammer today.
